Burien Cooperative Preschool offers a variety of classes for toddlers, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, and 4-year-olds:
TODDLERS CLASSES
(FIREFLIES & CRICKETS)
Our Fireflies and Crickets toddlers classes meet one morning each week and are led by Teacher Yon LeMieux. The Fireflies meet on Wednesdays from 9:45am to 11:15am. The Crickets meet on Mondays from 9:45am to 11:15am.
These weekly classes are designed to be a young child's first introduction to cooperative preschool. Along with a parent or caregiver, the children, ages 12-24 months, will explore a variety of materials, sing songs, dance, play, and interact with peers.
Duties of participating families include working in the class each week, bringing snack once per quarter, assisting teacher with opening or closing once per quarter, attending a monthly parent meeting, and taking on a class job. Class jobs include, but are not limited to, making playdough, coordinating social events or going to the library for the teacher on a weekly basis.
Children must be 12 months old by August 31st.
2's CLASS (DRAGONFLIES)
Our Dragonflies 2's class is led by Teacher Yon LeMieux. It is held on Thursday and Friday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am. Parents work in the classroom one designated day each week.
Children can participate in a number of themed messy, fun, hands-on activities. They are free to express their creativity at the free art table or play on the rug area with cars, animals or blocks. They also can play with trains, climb in the loft or play dress up. Your child will also have the opportunity to play outside in our fenced play yard in the giant sandbox, in the playhouse or in the garden.
Children must be age two by August 31st.
3's CLASS (OTTERS)
Our Otters 3's class is led by Teacher Gloria Witters and is held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am. Parents work in the classroom one designated preschool day each week.
Children spend most of their time with us in free play in either the Art Room, Circle Time Room or play yard. A number of themed, messy, fun activities are set up and supervised to ensure children have rich and memorable experiences. Many special activities, visitors, and field trips are planned throughout the year.
Children must be age three by August 31st and need to be potty trained or well on their way.
4's CLASS (ORCAS)
Our Orcas 4's class is led by Teacher Gloria Witters and is held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 12:15pm to 2:45pm. Parents work in the classroom one designated preschool day each week.
Our 4's class provides an opportunity for children to grow and learn through rich and diverse experiences. Every afternoon is filled with messy fun and exploration. There are also some wonderful field trips to farms, plays, parks, and more!
Children must be age four by August 31st and need to be potty trained.
